Fiction vs Nonfiction Sort

Students read each card and decide whether it is an example of fiction or nonfiction. Includes 24 sorting cards, plus fiction and nonfiction heading cards. This is a great activity for your literacy centers or for instruction and practice with your small reading groups.

Worksheets

Worksheet 1 – Students cut out and glue each picture under the heading that shows what type of book it would be found in.

Worksheet 2 – Students read each descriptor and glue it under fiction or nonfiction. This worksheet reflects information on the anchor charts.

Worksheet 3 – Students write two sentences or descriptions for each picture, one fiction and one nonfiction. For example, next to the picture of a frog, they might write, “The witch turned the prince into an ugly frog.” and “Frogs have webbed feet and live near water.”
