Description
Only the Answer Remains is an open-ended mathematical thinking task designed to push students beyond procedural problem solving. Students engage in reasoning, explore multiple solution pathways, and justify their thinking as they make sense of a mathematical situation.
This task is ideal for building:
- Flexible thinking
- Mathematical discourse
- Justification and proof
- Strategic problem solving
With a low floor and high ceiling, it supports a wide range of learners and can be implemented using Thinking Classroom strategies or in a traditional setting.
Teacher notes and extension prompts are included to support facilitation and increase rigor as needed.
