MACBETH
Use this activity to analyse the history of witches, and the portrait of women as witches throughout history. Covering William Shakespeare’s Macbeth to pull your students into the text and inspire them to think deeply about Shakespeare’s work, why he chose the portail of witches, what was going on in England at the time, how does this stigma still affect women, different stages in history for witch hunts, the fear, the confusion, the justice. This lesson can be used as essay prep, discussion and conversation, debate, and advanced ESL classes.
This activity includes information pages which the student will read, interpret, infer, write and debate their opinions. It can stand along or use with other materials on the subject.
In addition to working as homework assignments, the activity can also serve as ESL classes for adults, small-group or full-class discussion starters, essay writing, and/or differentiated enrichment.
