Description
As a student of English, do you ever feel overwhelmed or frustrated trying to figure out how to pronounce a word in English, especially since there are so many sound change rules and exceptions to remember?
As a teacher of English, do you feel that you just don’t have the tools or skills to help you teach your students how to reproduce the sounds of English accurately, in a way that makes sense to them? Or, perhaps, you’ve tried everything to help certain students who are having difficulty and nothing seems to work.
Would you like a fresh perspective on English pronunciation?
My new English pronunciation video series, Visual Vocabulary: Video Pronunciation Cards for the Sounds of English, was developed with you in mind.
The series will cover all of the sounds of English as noted in the International Phonemic Alphabet (IPA). To start things off, we’re tackling the sound of /v/. This is a particularly difficult sound for speakers of languages that don’t have the sound. For Spanish-speakers it is more-so because the most common letter that makes this sound in English is the letter “v”, which in Spanish, is pronounced as an English “b” or the /b/ sound.
Each set in this series consists of:
📚 a word list developed specifically for practice of the featured sound. Each word list has approximately 30 words that feature the sound in various places within the word for the most varied English pronunciation practice;
📚 a short video with the main, American English pronunciation of the word and possible variants, plus an explanation of the mouth mechanics of the sound so that you will understand how the sound is made and what you need to do to be able to replicate the sound;
📚 a load of tips on the obstacles you may encounter and how to either avoid these obstacles or to conquer them if you have gotten stuck in them;
📚 tips and information about the words themselves and their relation to similar words
an image that explains the meaning of the word, and;
📚 the written word so that you can see how it will look when you see it in print and so that you can recognize the various letter combinations that the different sounds of English make.
Each word list/sound set will include:
🎥 The complete set in one, 30-minute (+/-) video that introduces the sound and its pronunciation,
the focus of the list,
🎥 and a word-by-word walk-through of the list (with plenty of time for practice).
🎥 Individual video cards of all the words on the list to use for specific issues in pronunciation, to isolate practice for specific students with particular trouble spots, as a randomized challenge, or to re-group the words from the lists in other ways that suit your or your class’s needs.
[PLEASE NOTE: because of uploading constraints, Once you make your purchase, I will e-mail you the Google Drive link for the individual videos.]
