Hi, I'm Susan Traugh, author of Transition 2 Life and Daily Living Skills. Transition 2 Life and Daily Living Skills provides transition/life skills for teens and young adults with mild-to-moderate disabilities. Transition 2 Life provides a 200+ page workbook for students on a 504 plan, or who participate in resource or other limited-time programs. Daily Living Skills provides more in-depth workbooks for students who need a more intensive approach. Written on a 3rd/4th-grade level, they are nevertheless geared to the sensibilities and interests of teens and young adults. Both programs meet federal mandates for transition skills, Indicator 13 requirements, and SCANS recommendations. These award-winning series offer easy-to-implement, affordable curricula that are engaging and inviting to a wide variety of students. They are currently used in schools, transition programs, universities, juvenile justice programs, foster care, and residential facilities all over the world.
Award-winning author, Susan Traugh, holds a B.A. in Liberal Studies, an M.A. in Education with a Curriculum emphasis, and has earned her Multiple Subjects credential.
She has written for the educational market for more than twenty years. In addition to dozens of workbooks and trade books, her writing has appeared in magazines across the nation, hi/lo books for special needs students, and more than a dozen editions of Chicken Soup for the Soul.
Her young adult novel, THE EDGE OF BRILLIANCE, tells the story of one teen’s battle with bipolar disorder and the hero she finds within herself. Winner of the San Diego Books Award, Purple Dragon Book Award, and International Impact Book Award, it is available on Amazon.
Most importantly, Susan is the mother of three amazing adult children with special needs. Her son suffered a TBI as a toddler and spent his school years in different special education settings. Today, he is working as a behavioral specialist at a facility for the most impacted kids. Her oldest daughter is on the autism spectrum and is faced with myriad physical challenges as well; she is currently working as a store clerk at Lakeshore Learning Store. Susan’s youngest suffers from severe mental health issues, but has graduated summa cum laude with her BSW, is currently in an MSW program, speaks for NAMI on stopping the stigma of mental illness, and is planning to work with teenagers with mental health and substance abuse disorders. Early in her children’s lives, Susan quit teaching to ensure that they reached their full potential. It was here that she realized the need for an appropriate curriculum for transition and life skills.
