Description

When students are given the opportunity to talk about their mathematical thinking, it not only helps teachers assess a student’s progress and improve students’ math proficiency, but it can also be a confidence builder for those students who don’t see themselves as “math people”. Students are also exposed to and given the opportunity to use the math academic vocabulary that they will need to recognize in written assessments, which we all know can be daunting for our struggling readers.

I always love using math talk in my classroom for all of these reasons, PLUS it reinforces our classroom community of mutual respect for our peers and allows students to hear different perspectives and explanations. I find that a new voice, other than the teachers, can sometimes be the thing that flips the switch on for a students who is struggling with a new mathematical concept.

This poster set will not only remind students how to participate in Math Talk, but also coordinate with your Colorful Rainbow Theme decor.

This set includes:

– 11 Math Talk Stem sentences

– MATH TALK title

– Colorful Rainbow decor images

Meet the Seller

Hi, I'm Casey, owner of Collaborative Class Curriculum, a teacher resource shop! I have taught grades K-6 in the classroom, worked as a K-6 math instructional coach, and served as a District Elementary Curriculum Specialist. After adopting my twin nieces, who had many developmental and language delays, I was inspired to pursue my PhD in Special Education concentrating in Early Childhood and Early Literacy and Language Development. I began Fall 2022 at the University of Florida and an working on my dissertation. I am so excited to create and share my resources with you to help support you and your students for years to come. Most of my resources are things that I have either used as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, curriculum specialist, or as a early literacy tutor, so you know that they are tried and tested before I upload them for you.
