Description
From monster creation to full narrative storytelling, this classroom-tested French project sequence helps students build confidence, creativity, and communicative fluency through connected, memorable experiences.
This bundle includes:
✔ Mon Monstre
Students physically create, describe, and present their own monster in French using descriptive vocabulary, adjective agreement, colors, body parts, and presentational speaking.
✔ Mon Monstre et Moi
Students take their monster on real-world adventures and narrate those experiences using passé composé, imparfait, reflexive verbs, storytelling, Google Slides, video, and spontaneous oral presentation.
Together, these projects form a complete narrative progression:
- description → storytelling
- present tense → past narration
- supported output → sustained communication
- creative engagement → authentic assessment
Students don’t just complete a project. They build a character they continue using throughout the year.

Students think they’re building monsters and telling funny stories.

- tense selection
- narrative sequencing
- vocabulary retrieval
- oral fluency
- sustained language production

And they have fun doing it!
Teaching Duration:
Approximately 5 weeks total implementation
(Typically 2 weeks for Mon Monstre + 3 weeks for Mon Monstre et Moi)
The timing is flexible. You know your classes better than anyone.
Generally, I keep the monsters in the classroom unless students ask to take them home temporarily. They usually promise to bring them back once they realize we’ll be using them again later in the year.
