Turn your classroom into the Wild Wild Web with this collaborative computer science vocabulary activity pack. Students step into the world of Sheriff Syntax and the Debugging Deputies as they read a humorous Wild West–themed story, solve vocabulary challenges, and contribute a piece to a large “Most Wanted Bugs” poster for your wall.

Activity Time

~90–150 minutes total, depending on which components you use

-Reading and analyzing a CS-themed fictional passage
-Identifying vocabulary in context
-Reinforcing terms such as input, output, binary, prototype, conditionals, copyright, pixel, machine learning, and more
-Solving critical thinking questions from 24 task cards
-Collaborating to assemble a large wall poster
-Writing responses to fill-in-the-blank comprehension prompts
-Thinking creatively while completing their poster square
-Reflecting on debugging using the Bug Roundup extension
